As the UK swelters under a heatwave, King Charles III and Queen Camilla have visited London Zoo to mark the 200th anniversary of the Zoological Society of London (ZSL). During the visit, the royal couple learned about the zoo's work in science, conservation, and visitor experience.
Despite temperatures soaring above 30°C in London, King Charles remained faithful to his usual elegant style, wearing a suit, tie, and sunglasses. Queen Camilla, on the other hand, opted for a more practical solution, shielding herself from the blazing sun with a stylish parasol.
The royal couple fed giant tortoises with slices of watermelon and watched Humboldt penguins during their daily health check.
The zoo also holds personal significance for King Charles. He first visited London Zoo at the age of one, when he saw Brumas, the famous polar bear cub and the first polar bear born in Britain. Later in his childhood, he regularly visited the zoo, and at age 13, he became a member of the ZSL Youth Zoologists' Club.
