A severe road traffic accident occurred on Friday on the Tīnūži-Koknese road in Ogre municipality, leaving people injured. Nine soldiers of the National Armed Forces (NBS) who were present at the scene quickly stepped in to help.
Response at the scene
According to information released by the NBS on social media, the servicemen administered first aid to the injured before medical personnel and other emergency responders arrived. At the same time, the soldiers worked to ensure traffic safety at the accident site, aiming to prevent additional risks to other road users.
The soldiers remained at the scene until emergency medical services, police and other operational services arrived and took over the response to the aftermath of the accident.
The official NBS statement did not provide further details about the circumstances of the crash, the number of people injured, their condition, or the types of vehicles involved.
The incident is another example of National Armed Forces personnel being ready to respond promptly to emergencies beyond their direct military duties, offering support to civilians and state emergency services during urgent situations on Latvia's roads.
