Karim Adeyemi wins over Barcelona after summer move from Dortmund

A striking start in Barcelona

German forward Karim Adeyemi, 24, who joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund this summer for a reported €22 million, has rapidly become a key figure under Hansi Flick, according to Goal.com. He rotates with Anthony Gordon on the left wing alongside Lamine Yamal and captain Raphinha in the forward line.

After six matches, Barcelona had won all of them with a goal difference of 26-5, according to figures cited by Goal.com. In that stretch Adeyemi scored three goals and provided one assist — notably, all three goals came off his weaker right foot despite him being naturally left-footed, as noted by Barca Universal.

Standout moments against Levante and Feyenoord

Against UD Levante, Adeyemi scored a spectacular solo goal deep into stoppage time, carrying the ball from inside his own half, beating two opponents and calmly finishing past the goalkeeper. The goal so delighted Lamine Yamal, who had already been substituted, that he could not stay seated on the bench, Goal.com reports. A few days earlier, Adeyemi had also scored in a Champions League match against Feyenoord.

After the Levante goal, Adeyemi chose not to perform his signature backflip celebration, which he had done in the midweek match. He explained that the backflip had been dedicated to his children, and this time he simply didn't feel like repeating it, according to Barca Blaugranes.

Adeyemi's wife, rapper Loredana, took a swipe at Real Madrid on social media, commenting "140 million" on one of her husband's posts — a reference to the fee Real reportedly paid for winger Yan Diomande, who is still waiting for his first goal contribution at his new club.

The Racing match and an instinctive playing style

In a recent match against Racing Santander, which Barcelona won comfortably thanks to a Raphinha hat-trick and two long-range goals from Joao Cancelo, Adeyemi did not score himself but posed a constant threat and won two penalties, according to Barca Blaugranes.

Adeyemi himself says his best performances come when he "doesn't think about anything" on the pitch and lets his movements happen naturally. Flick, who has known Adeyemi since giving him his senior Germany debut, continues to back him but has urged him not to settle for what he has already achieved.

Adeyemi also has 11 caps for Germany with one goal; his last appearance came on 13 October 2025. New national team coach Jürgen Klopp is set to announce his first squad this week, and several observers, including Lothar Matthäus, believe Adeyemi could be included.
