He names the Melo-M mega orchestra concert as his most significant creative event of the summer, where 130 cellists from all over Latvia performed together on a single stage. Auzāns describes it as a unique sound unlike anything heard elsewhere, noting that such unusual, one-of-a-kind projects are what interest him most.
A creative filter
The musician admits that before pursuing a new idea, he asks himself whether he has already seen or heard something similar. This self-check works like a kind of sporting challenge that pushes him toward original thinking. He compares the arrival of a new idea to fishing — a new thought must be awaited, and only once it appears as a clear vision does the actual work of realizing it begin.
Sources of inspiration
Beyond his professional interest in music, Auzāns is inspired by travel — the chance to experience other cultures and see how people from different nations find fulfillment in life. In his view, every culture has something to teach. Family also plays a central role, which he calls his core and mission, as does connecting with other people — both when someone asks for his creative help, for instance composing music for a film, and when he himself can share his experience with others.
Auzāns stresses that a person's perception never stops evolving, since both the surrounding information and the person — physically and emotionally — keep changing. For him, real life means constant movement in thought, body and ideas.
