The Tallinn city government decided this week that Karolin Sulg will take over as head of the Lasnamäe Youth Centre from September 1. She currently works at the institution as a youth worker and has already been handling a number of strategic tasks, including developing the centre's language strategy aimed at supporting the integration of young people in Lasnamäe.

Sulg previously told the publication Harju Elu that her work in the largely Russian-speaking district was not easy at first. The language barrier initially seemed such a serious obstacle that the centre's former director had to persuade her to accept the job offer.

Sulg will lead the Lasnamäe Youth Centre following the departure of Edgar Latuškevitš, who left the post on July 10. In July, Tallinn announced an open competition to fill the resulting vacancy.
