Paris Grapples with Record Heat Wave: Ice Donations and Health Concerns
A record-breaking heat wave in Paris has led to health emergencies, including 25 cardiac arrests in 24 hours, while Carrefour donated four tons of ice to firefighters.

Paris is experiencing an unprecedented heat wave, with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday being the hottest days ever recorded in French history. Temperatures in the densely populated capital have reached around 40 degrees Celsius, and the extreme heat is expected to persist until Sunday.
In response, Carrefour, one of France's major supermarket chains, donated four tons of ice to the city's firefighters, as confirmed by CEO Alexandre Bompard in a LinkedIn post.
Paris Mayor reported on Thursday that the heat wave has caused an increase in mortality rates, though specific figures were not provided. French Health Minister Stéphanie Rist stated that 25 cardiac arrests were recorded in Paris over a 24-hour period, compared to an average of fewer than 10 on a normal day.
