The programme 'What's Happening in Latvia?' is continuing its series of interviews with prime ministerial candidates nominated by political parties ahead of the upcoming 15th Saeima elections. The latest guest is Viktors Valainis, a board member and the leader of the Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS), who is the second politician to take part in this interview cycle.

An ongoing series

The programme has adopted a format in which representatives of different parties are invited one after another, each having been put forward by their party as a candidate for the post of prime minister. This approach allows voters to get a closer look at political leaders and their parties' positions ahead of the parliamentary elections.

Valainis is the second of several prime ministerial candidates to be interviewed as part of the programme. The series had already begun with another party's nominated candidate, and it will continue with further political leaders in the coming installments.

Context

The interview series is taking place during the pre-election period, when parties are presenting their leaders and platforms to the public. ZZS is one of the Latvian political parties taking part in the upcoming 15th Saeima elections, and Valainis holds both a board member and a leadership role within the party.
