Kaucminde Manor Slowly Reborn Without State Financial Support
The half-ruined Kaucminde Manor is being gradually restored thanks to the perseverance of its owner, architect Aiva Dreimane-Ozolzīle, while state support mechanisms for owners of cultural heritage properties remain delayed.

Step-by-step restoration
Kaucminde Manor, which until recently was half-collapsed, is slowly regaining its former glory. The first windows have been installed, and work is currently underway to restore the palace columns and portico. The manor's owner, architect Aiva Dreimane-Ozolzīle, is determined to continue the enormous task, even though state support mechanisms for owners of large cultural heritage sites have not yet been implemented.
Minister's stance
Culture Minister Nauris Puntulis (National Alliance) acknowledges that new financial instruments are needed. The Ministry of Culture has proposed including them in the next European Union funding period, but concrete solutions are not yet available.
Private initiative
Despite the lack of state support, Dreimane-Ozolzīle continues to invest her own resources and time to save this significant cultural heritage site. Her work exemplifies how private individuals can take responsibility for preserving historic buildings while state structures search for long-term solutions.
