Kaucminde Manor's Slow Rebirth: Step by Step Without Millions, Driven by Determination
The half-ruined Kaucminde Manor is being restored gradually – the first windows are installed, columns and portico are under renovation. The owner, architect Aiva Dreimane-Ozolzīle, remains determined to continue while state support is still lacking.

Kaucminde Manor, which has been in a state of disrepair for a long time, is slowly regaining its former glory. The first windows have been installed, and the restoration of the manor's columns and portico is currently underway. The owner, architect Aiva Dreimane-Ozolzīle, is unwavering in her determination to continue this vast and time-consuming work to restore the cultural heritage site.
However, the state support system for owners of large cultural monuments remains inadequate. Culture Minister Nauris Puntulis (National Alliance) acknowledges the need for new financing instruments. He indicates that the Ministry of Culture has already proposed addressing these issues in the next European Union funding period.
The restoration of Kaucminde Manor is a slow process, proceeding without massive investments or state co-financing. Nevertheless, the owner's perseverance and hard work are gradually bearing fruit, and the manor is reclaiming its place on Latvia's cultural map.
