Kaunas Zalgiris Hold on to Lithuanian Football Lead as Jablonec Lose 0-5 Before Facing Riga

Kaunas Zalgiris kept hold of the Lithuanian football crown in the A Lyga, the country's top division. The club has been drawn against Latvia's Riga FC on 26 November in the league phase of the UEFA Conference League, a European club competition. Croatian Gabriel Debeljuh scored twice for the winners, while fellow Croats Leon Krekovic and Ivan Fiolic also found the net.

After 31 games, Kaunas Zalgiris leads the table with 58 points and a goal difference of 61:21. Vilnius Zalgiris is second on 51 points, and Marijampole's Suduva is third on 50. Vilnius Riteriai did not continue the season, having been expelled over financial difficulties.

Elsewhere, Siauliai beat Telsiai's Dziugas 2-1. Latvian forward Davis Ikaunieks played until the 65th minute and was substituted immediately after the score became 1-1. Siauliai are last in the table and will face a playoff in November against a team from Lithuania's second-strongest league, either Kretinga's Minija or Plunge's Babrungas.

In the Czech Republic

In the Czech top flight, Teplice won 3-1 away at Uherske Hradiste's Slovacko and returned to the top six. Oskars Vientiess, a new defensive mainstay of the Latvian national team, played the whole match. After 13 rounds Teplice have 21 points, one more than Jablonec, who meet Riga next Thursday. Jablonec, who had held Glasgow Rangers and Brighton this season, lost 0-5 at home to national champions Slavia Prague before travelling to Riga.
