Housing adaptation for people with disabilities delayed – only 148 out of 228 units completed
Latvia must adapt at least 228 housing units for people with disabilities by the end of August using EU funds, but only 148 are finished; due to delays, some municipalities may miss the deadline.

By the end of August, Latvia is required to adapt at least 228 housing units for people with disabilities, funded by the European Union. However, some municipalities may not meet the deadline, as only 148 units have been completed so far.
The main issues include procurement delays and increasing costs. To still reach the target, the Ministry of Welfare urges local governments to submit applications for additional housing adaptations. Nevertheless, the risk of failing to meet the deadline remains significant.
