Kazakhstan Attracts Billions for One of Europe's Largest Data Centers
Kazakhstan has secured investments of up to $10 billion for a data center project that will be among the largest in Europe. The first phase involves $5 billion, with the facility expected to be operational by 2027.

Kazakhstan is developing one of Europe's largest data center projects, attracting total investments of up to $10 billion. The first phase, worth $5 billion, includes $1 billion from state telecom operator Kazakhtelecom. The 125 MW data center is scheduled to be commissioned in 2027, while the timeline for the second phase and additional investments will be determined later.
The project involves a partnership between Firebird and Nvidia, which will provide AI infrastructure financing and GPU supplies. Kazakhstan aims to leverage its vast territory, low energy costs, and strategic location between Asia and Europe to become a regional digital hub.
The country's IT services exports exceeded $1.142 billion in 2025, and digitalization adds 1.5 percentage points to annual GDP growth. By 2030, Kazakhstan plans to increase total data center capacity to 1.5 GW.
Private sector is also active – Freedom Holding, together with Nvidia, is building a $2 billion data center. Kazakhstan attracts about $20 billion in FDI annually, and by 2030, investments in data infrastructure could reach $16.5 billion. According to the IMF, Kazakhstan's economy by purchasing power parity will approach $1 trillion in 2026.
