Man caught driving with 3.61 per mille alcohol level near Ķekava

Municipal police in the Ķekava municipality have detained a man who was driving an “Audi” while heavily intoxicated. A breath test showed a blood alcohol level of 3.61 per mille.

A tip from a bystander

The case came to light after someone reported to police that he had noticed an obviously very drunk man at a local shop. After shopping, the man left the store, got into his “Audi” and drove off. The witness immediately alerted police.

A patrol quickly set out to find the car described, spotted it shortly after and pulled it over. The bystander's suspicion proved correct — the driver's alcohol test came back extremely high.

Previously punished multiple times

When checking the man's record, police found that his driving licence had already been revoked several times in the past for drunk driving. He had also previously served a prison sentence for similar offences. Despite this, he had once again gotten behind the wheel while severely intoxicated.

The municipal police thanked the witness for not staying indifferent and for reporting the dangerous situation right away. Officers emphasized that such public involvement can help stop an intoxicated driver in time and prevent a potential tragedy on the road.
