On the Tuesday, September 15 episode of the podcast "We Need to Talk," Kelly Osbourne spoke candidly about her strained relationship with her older sister Aimee.

The conversation touched on Aimee's decision not to take part in the family reality show "The Osbournes." Kelly declined to lay out all the reasons behind that choice, saying she didn't want to speak on her sister's behalf and that she respects Aimee's privacy even though the two aren't close.

Different worlds

Kelly said 43-year-old Aimee never really acknowledged her or their brother Jack, instead living in her own world. Kelly admitted she has at times felt her sister was embarrassed by them. She stressed the two are complete opposites — "like oil and water."

One of Kelly's most painful experiences, she said, was never really having had an older sister — she had to teach herself many things Aimee should have taught her.

No reconciliation expected

Asked whether there's still hope of repairing the relationship, Kelly said no. She noted she accepts her sister as she is, but their differences are simply too great. Kelly added that family ties aren't always decisive — people can choose who they consider family.

She also said she doesn't want people in her life who refuse to accept her and try to change her.
