Metycle, a Cologne-based supplier of secondary copper and aluminium, has secured a €131.7 million ($150 million) credit facility from Rivonia Road Capital, a California-headquartered private capital manager focused on asset-backed lending.

The facility follows previous funding rounds for the company: a €14 million Series A round closed in February 2025, and a €4.7 million Seed round announced in December 2023.

Daniel Zinn, co-founder and Managing Partner of Rivonia Road Capital, said he was proud to support Metycle's next growth phase, praising the management team's industry expertise and clear scaling strategy. Alongside Rivonia Road Capital, Metycle's backers include 2150, which led its Series A round, as well as Project A, Partech, Market One Capital, Dutch Founders Fund, Crédit Agricole Leasing & Factoring, and SCCF.

What Metycle does

Founded in 2022 by Rafael Suchan and Sebastian Brenner, Metycle is a vertically integrated company that buys, upgrades and supplies copper, aluminium and other non-ferrous metals to industrial customers, with teams present in 15 countries. Over the past 12 months, the company says it has traded more than €103 million ($120 million) worth of secondary metals, marking 150% growth year-on-year.

The business rests on three pillars: a global trading operation handling sourcing, contracts and risk; SmartSorting Hubs that use AI-enabled sorting and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy to turn mixed scrap into feedstock matching buyer specifications; and TrustTrack, a digital system linking origin, quality and logistics data to each batch. Its first SmartSorting Hub operates in Maasmechelen, Belgium.

Metycle argues the secondary metals market suffers less from lack of demand than from a lack of predictability, given inconsistent specifications and documentation across the fragmented industry. CEO and co-founder Suchan said the new facility will allow the company to finance larger physical metal transactions and expand supply to industrial buyers and smelters globally.
