The Mezaparks Great Stage in Riga hosted DJ and songwriter Calvin Harris on Thursday evening, with the concert drawing considerable attention from music lovers. Harris is regarded as one of the most influential electronic dance music creators of the 21st century, with his music having been streamed more than 56 million times. He has received 14 MTV VMA nominations and two wins, as well as five Grammy nominations and a Grammy in the best video category for the song "We Found Love".

Before Harris took the stage, DJ and radio personality Maija Rozīte performed, followed by Estonian DJ and record producer Syn Cole and American house music producer MK. Harris was scheduled to appear at 22.29.

The concert came amid the aftermath of another planned event at the same venue. A Pitbull concert scheduled for July was cancelled, with organisers announcing the decision on the evening of 28 July. They cited concerns over the safety of stage structures and said there were still many unanswered questions about details and responsibility, with various expert examinations to be carried out.

Around 40,000 tickets had been sold for the cancelled Pitbull show. Ticket holders were offered the chance to attend Harris's concert instead or receive a refund.
