Residents in Riga's Ķengarags warn of suspicious individuals checking apartment locks

Residents of the Ķengarags neighborhood in Riga are sharing an online warning about suspicious activity in apartment buildings. A video posted alongside the warning shows strangers checking apartment doors and locks during evening hours.
According to the person who posted the video, the incident was recorded in the evening, when most residents had already returned home from work. The footage reportedly shows that two days earlier, a security camera in a stairwell near a small "Mego" store and the promenade on Jezupa Rancāna Street captured unfamiliar people checking door locks.
According to the account, between roughly 21:20 and 21:30, these individuals moved between different floors, approaching apartment doors and doing something to the locks while residents were at home.
The author of the post specifically urged Ķengarags residents whose children move around the neighborhood unsupervised to be cautious.
Circumstances remain unclear
The identity and intentions of these individuals have not been established. It is also unknown whether they visited other stairwells in the neighborhood or were present in the area during daytime hours as well. The news has spread mainly through social media, where residents are sharing experiences and encouraging neighbors to pay attention to unusual activity in stairwells.
