Trae Young Agrees to $212 Million Deal with Washington Wizards
NBA guard Trae Young and the Washington Wizards have agreed on a new contract worth approximately $212 million. Young declined his player option to become a free agent.

NBA star Trae Young has reached a verbal agreement with the Washington Wizards on a new contract worth approximately $212 million. This amount represents the maximum he could have received from any other team.
Young had one year remaining on his previous contract at $49 million, but he chose to opt out, becoming a free agent. This move allowed him to secure a significantly larger deal.
Young began the season with the Atlanta Hawks, where he played alongside Latvian forward Kristaps Porziņģis. However, in January, Young was traded to the Wizards, while Porziņģis was sent to the Golden State Warriors. Due to injuries, Young played only 10 games for Atlanta and five for Washington. He averaged 17.9 points and 8.0 assists per game.
Young spent seven and a half seasons with the Hawks. Last season, he led the NBA in assists, averaging 11.6 assists per game.
