The latest episode of the analytical program «Keys» (Кейс), produced by LSM's Russian-language service, follows a walk through Riga with philosopher Igor Gubenko. Gubenko is a leading research fellow at the University of Latvia and curator of the exhibition «Nepieskaitāmie» as well as the mural «Rīgas Atlantīda».

The conversation covers several topics currently relevant to society in Latvia, including the Russian language, migrants, hate speech, politics and integration. The host and guest discuss what is happening in society at present, reflect on experiences from the past, and debate whether there is reason to expect a brighter future — or whether such hope is absent.

About the program

«Keys» is a format produced by LSM's Russian-language editorial team, offering in-depth conversations with well-known public figures on current and often contentious issues. This episode centers on questions of language, identity and social mood, topics that traditionally spark broad debate in Latvia, particularly regarding the role of the Russian language in everyday life and the process of integrating migrants.

As both a philosopher and a curator, Gubenko brings a perspective that combines academic background with involvement in the arts. The episode is available in video format on the LSM website, allowing viewers to follow both specific arguments and the broader context of the discussion about how society views its current situation and its possible future.
