Kia unveils electric van PV7 — US launch still uncertain
Kia has revealed its new electric van PV7 in Germany, the second model in its PBV lineup. The automaker has not yet confirmed whether or when the van will reach the US market.
Kia unveiled its new electric van PV7 at the IAA Transportation show in Germany — the second model in the company's Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup, following the PV5 people mover that launched in 2025. The PV7 is roughly two feet longer than the PV5 and comes in both passenger and cargo variants.
The van is built on Kia's dedicated PBV architecture (E-GMP.S), featuring a flat-floor layout designed for easier loading and unloading. Two battery options are offered — 71.5kWh and 96.2kWh. Kia states the long-range cargo version can travel up to 460 kilometers on the WLTP testing cycle, though that figure tends to run 10–20 percent higher than real-world EPA-style estimates. Thanks to an 800-volt architecture, the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in under 25 minutes using a 350kW DC fast charger. The van also supports vehicle-to-load functionality, allowing it to power external tools and equipment. Its infotainment system runs on Kia's Android Automotive-based Pleos Connect platform, which includes the Gleo AI voice-control system.
The design features a two-tone front end with a dark upper section wrapping around the windshield, a tall flat roof, and rugged plastic body cladding around the base. Both variants feature distinctive squarish, multi-spoke wheels.
Officially, the PV7 is set to launch in Europe and South Korea in the second half of 2027, with additional markets to follow later. While Kia has not confirmed a US launch, a test version of the van has already been spotted undergoing trials in the United States.
