Latvia's Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) suffered a cyberattack in which attackers obtained personal data belonging to 1.2 million people, according to Cert.lv.

Latvia's Road Traffic Safety Directorate, known as CSDD, has been hit by a cyberattack that resulted in the theft of personal data belonging to 1.2 million people.
The breach was disclosed by Varis Teivāns, deputy head for cyber incident prevention at Cert.lv, the state institution responsible for handling cybersecurity incidents in Latvia.
Details about exactly what categories of data were accessed, and how the attackers managed to breach CSDD's systems, have not yet been made public. Given that CSDD's database holds records on a large share of Latvia's population, including drivers and vehicle owners, the incident could potentially affect a significant portion of the country's residents.
Further information about the scope of the breach and any investigation is expected from the responsible authorities in the coming days.
