House catches fire in Kyiv after drone debris hits it, following deadly earlier strikes
A house in Kyiv's Dniprovskyi district caught fire on the evening of 29 August after debris from a Russian drone landed on it, hours after earlier strikes in the capital killed a two-year-old girl and injured eight people.
A residential house in Kyiv's Dniprovskyi district caught fire on the evening of 29 August after being hit by debris from a drone, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported. Officials said they were still gathering information on possible casualties from the incident.
Shortly before the fire broke out, an air-raid warning was in effect across Kyiv from 18:22 to 18:45 due to the threat of Russian drones.
Earlier strikes on the capital
The fire in the Dniprovskyi district followed a series of drone incidents in Kyiv earlier the same day. In the afternoon, a drone crashed in the city's Obolonskyi district, damaging a café and killing a two-year-old girl. Another drone struck a non-residential building in the Podilskyi district.
By the end of the day, the number of people injured across Kyiv as a result of Russian drone attacks on 29 August had risen to eight, with a second strike also reported on a non-residential building in the capital.
Nationwide assault
Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia launched 224 attack drones against the country on 29 August, with the vast majority directed toward Kyiv.
