Explosions heard in Kyiv, drone debris falls, hotel roof on fire
On the evening of July 1, explosions were heard in Kyiv as air defense units engaged drone targets. Debris fell in at least two districts, and a hotel caught fire in Shevchenkivskyi district.

Explosions were heard in Kyiv on the evening of July 1 as air defense forces were active countering a drone attack. Kyiv City Military Administration head Timur Tkachenko reported that air defense units were engaging enemy targets on the approaches to the capital, warning that attack drones might be moving towards the city and that a combined attack could occur in the coming days.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that in the Desnianskyi district, drone debris fell near a private house without causing a fire. In Shevchenkivskyi district, debris fell on the territory of a non-residential building. Later, Klitschko updated that the roof of a three-story non-residential building was on fire in Shevchenkivskyi district. Tkachenko confirmed that a hotel had caught fire as a result of the attack.
According to Tkachenko, drones were approaching Kyiv from several directions, and there was a threat of a multi-stage attack.
These events occurred on the same day Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia is preparing a new massive strike on Ukraine.
