Explosions in Kyiv Before Air Alert; Russia Attacks with Ballistic Missiles
Kyiv experienced a series of powerful explosions before the air raid alert was announced. Russian forces struck with ballistic missiles, likely from the Bryansk region.

In the early hours of July 11, a series of powerful explosions rocked Kyiv before the air raid alert was sounded. Russian troops launched a ballistic missile strike, presumably from the Bryansk region of Russia.
The first blasts were heard around 3:38 a.m. local time. The air raid alert in Kyiv was activated at 3:40 a.m., and in the Kyiv region at 3:54 a.m. Preliminary data from monitoring channels suggest the attack may have involved Iskander-M missiles or anti-aircraft guided missiles from S-300/S-400 systems.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, urged residents to stay in safe places. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klychko confirmed that the city was hit by ballistic missiles.
According to Tkachenko, non-residential civilian buildings were damaged in the Dnipro and Sviatoshyn districts. In the Darnytsia district, blast waves shattered windows in a residential building, while a fire broke out in an office building in the Solomianskyi district.
Earlier, on the night of July 8, Kyiv also experienced at least four explosions before the air raid alert was issued.
