Kyiv's Motherland Monument Lit in US Flag Colors for America's 250th Anniversary
On July 4, the Motherland Monument in Kyiv was illuminated in blue, white, and red to mark the 250th anniversary of US independence, symbolizing solidarity and gratitude for American support.

On the evening of July 4, Kyiv's monumental sculpture "Motherland" was illuminated in blue, white, and red—the colors of the American flag—to honor the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. The initiative was carried out by the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (AmCham).
The monument, which is the world's first fully welded metal sculpture and taller than the Statue of Liberty in New York, was lit in three colors. Organizers stated that this action is a gesture of solidarity and gratitude to the American people for their support of Ukraine.
Andriy Gunder, President of AmCham in Ukraine, said: "Today there is no more significant place in the world to celebrate freedom than Kyiv. By lighting the US flag on the historic Ukrainian monument 'Motherland,' we together celebrate independence. This monument is a symbol of courage, resilience, and the unbreakable defense of free people."
In addition to the monument, the Kyiv railway station was also illuminated with the US flag. Footage of the festive lighting on the Pechersk hills quickly spread on social media.
Earlier, to mark the 250th anniversary of US independence, the National Bank of Ukraine issued a commemorative silver coin with a face value of 10 hryvnias. Its reverse features the Statue of Liberty and the Motherland Monument together with a symbolic flame of freedom.
Also on July 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump. The head of state congratulated his American counterpart and the US people on the holiday and discussed further support for Ukraine.
