Kyiv hit by ballistic missiles overnight, explosions and fires reported
Russian forces launched a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv on the night of July 16, causing fires in several city districts.

On the night of July 16, an air raid alert was declared in Kyiv and several regions of Ukraine due to the threat of enemy ballistic weapons. Explosions were heard in the capital and fires broke out, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), the Air Force, and Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
The KCMA stated that the air alert was issued because of the threat of ballistic weapons. The Air Force reported ballistic missiles heading toward Kyiv. Initially, they warned of multiple missiles, later specifying that four missiles were on course for the capital.
Mayor Klitschko reported consequences in two Kyiv districts. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a missile struck warehouse premises. In the Darnytskyi district, missile debris fell on non-residential territory. Later, Klitschko added that another hit was recorded on a non-residential building in Darnytskyi. Fires broke out in both locations—at the warehouse in Sviatoshynskyi and in the non-residential area in Darnytskyi.
At 1:29 a.m., the Air Force declared the all-clear for the ballistic threat.
