One killed, 12 injured in Russian ballistic missile strike on Kyiv
A Russian ballistic missile and drone attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region has killed one woman and injured at least 12 people, according to Ukrainian officials.
Russia launched a fresh wave of ballistic missiles and drones against Kyiv and its outskirts on Wednesday, killing one person and wounding at least 12 others, according to local authorities. Timur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said the “enemy is again massively attacking the Kyiv region,” with residential buildings and warehouses hit.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said there were concerns that people might be trapped under the rubble following strikes in the city centre. Air raid warnings remained active for over an hour as multiple waves of missiles targeted the capital and nearby areas. Tkachenko said damage was being recorded in the Bucha, Brovary and Fastiv districts, and urged residents not to ignore air raid sirens.
The regional military administration reported that one woman had been killed and at least 12 people wounded.
The attacks come amid a recent pattern of Ukrainian strikes on Russian civilian infrastructure, including power facilities. Ukraine has also repeatedly targeted warehouses of the Russian e-commerce firm Wildberries. On Tuesday morning, strikes on Wildberries warehouses in the Moscow region killed five people and wounded 10. The previous day, Russian officials said a drone attack on a crowded beach in the Krasnodar region killed seven and injured 58.
Meanwhile, Ukraine voiced outrage over a video showing a drone chasing a man in Kherson, calling it a deliberate “hunt” or “safari” against civilians. Both sides have denied targeting civilians intentionally.
Ukraine has renewed calls for more US-made Patriot missile interceptors to defend against Russian ballistic attacks.
