Kyiv Capitals wrap up pre-season with mixed results in Toruń
Riga-based Ukrainian ice hockey club Kyiv Capitals played two pre-season games in Toruń with contrasting outcomes. On Friday the team will face a combined Daugavpils and Riga squad.

Riga-based Ukrainian ice hockey club Kyiv Capitals continued their pre-season preparations with games at a tournament in Toruń, Poland.
First game
Japanese forward Chikara Hanzawa opened the scoring after capitalizing on a rebound from Latvian player Danila Larionov's shot, which had been saved by Estonian goaltender Konrad Melder. Danilo Tsarkovsky equalized in the second period, but the opposing team regained the lead through Finn Santeri Peltola. Shortly after, Feliks Morozov restored parity with an assist from Pauls Svars. In the final period, Mykhailo Kovalchuk scored the decisive goal on a penalty shot, while David Sarkanis sealed the result with an empty-net goal.
Second game
In the second match, Finnish goaltender Sami Huhonen guarded the Capitals' net and was beaten four times. Goals came from defenseman Mateusz Zielinski, Belarusian-born Polish citizen Mikolaj Sitko, Kazakh player Vyacheslav Kolesnikov, and longtime Ukrainian national team forward Andriy Deniskin, who set the final score.
Previous matches
The previous week in Scotland, Capitals lost 5:6 in overtime to Kirkcaldy's Fife Flyers, beat Glasgow Clan 7:4, and lost 3:6 to Dundee Stars.
On Friday, the team will play a combined squad from Daugavpils and Riga.
