Kyiv Capitals continue to raid opponents, sign forward Sprukts from Mogo
The Ukrainian team Kyiv Capitals, competing in the Optibet Hockey League, have added another player from Latvian champions Mogo – forward Gatis Sprukts.

As they prepare for their second season in the Latvian open championship, Kyiv Capitals have been actively strengthening their roster by luring top players from rival teams. Their latest acquisition is 29-year-old forward Gatis Sprukts, who won his third Latvian championship title last season with Mogo. In the regular season, Sprukts tallied 32 points (12 goals, 20 assists) in 32 games, ranking fifth among Mogo scorers. In the playoffs, he played 11 games, scoring two goals and adding seven assists. Sprukts previously played in Ukraine during the 2021/2022 season for Donetsk Donbass, then the national champions. However, due to Russia's full-scale war, he had to flee Ukraine on February 24, 2022, along with his team. This offseason, Capitals have also secured Kevin Strādnieks and Pauls Svars from Liepāja, defenseman Harijs Brants from Zemgale, and earlier, forward Deivids Sarkanis from Mogo.
