Explosions at Moscow region chemical plant reportedly kill seven, dozens evacuated
Explosions hit a production building at a chemical plant in Krasnozavodsk in the Moscow region, reportedly killing seven people and prompting the evacuation of more than 40 others.
Russian Telegram channels linked to the security services have reported explosions at a chemical plant's production facility in the town of Krasnozavodsk, located in the Moscow region.
According to preliminary information cited by the channel Mash, one of the buildings was partially destroyed and a fire subsequently broke out. Footage filmed by eyewitnesses shows thick gray smoke rising above the site.
The channel Shot reported that seven people died as a result of the incident, while more than 40 others were evacuated from the area.
The channel Baza said emergency crews from Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry arrived at the scene. Rescuers were initially unable to approach the blaze but have since begun working to extinguish it.
As of publication, authorities in the Moscow region had not issued any official comment on the incident.
