Chinese officials have confirmed the death of the pilot who flew a small plane into the tallest tower in Beijing. The statement came a day after online images showed falling debris and aircraft parts.
The incident occurred approximately five miles (eight kilometers) from the headquarters of the Communist Party. In addition to the pilot's death, 13 other people were injured.
Earlier, videos and photographs circulated on social media depicted damage to the upper floors of the tower and plumes of smoke. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
