China marks National Day with 5,000-drone light show over Nanchang
A fleet of 5,000 drones lit up the night sky over Nanchang, China, forming images such as a plane and a football-playing robot to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the People's Republic of China. Dubai's Burj Khalifa also hosted a light display for the occasion.

On Thursday night, a fleet of 5,000 drones filled the sky above Nanchang in China's Jiangxi province, creating striking images including an aeroplane and a humanoid robot kicking a football. Large crowds gathered along the riverbanks to watch, with many recording the display on their phones.
The show formed part of the city's National Day celebrations and was one of numerous events held across China to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Celebrations reach Dubai
The same day, a spectacular lightshow illuminated Dubai's Burj Khalifa to honour the same anniversary. Tourists gathered to watch the display, with some saying the visuals had inspired them to visit China.
Overseas Chinese residents living in the UAE also attended the event, sending messages of health and happiness to people back in China. The celebrations coincide with Golden Week, the week-long National Day holiday observed annually across China.
