Chinese Expo Showcases 1,600 hp Hybrid Tractor and New eCVT Tractors

At an agricultural machinery show in Tianjin, Chinese makers presented the Zoomlion 9DX hybrid tractor with 1,600 hp peak output and a Weichai Lovol eCVT tractor range. Most figures are manufacturer claims, and European availability is unknown.

The CIAME 2026 (China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition) opened on 26 October in Tianjin, China, and runs until 28 October. On the first day, manufacturers Zoomlion, Weichai Lovol, Lingong and YTO unveiled new products focused on hybrid drives, automation and fuel savings. The show features more than 3,000 companies across nearly 300,000 m².

Zoomlion 9DX

Zoomlion presented the 9DX hybrid tractor with a declared peak output of 1,600 hp, calling it the most powerful tractor in the world. Its previous most powerful model, the DX7004, reached 1,200 hp using a 700 hp Cummins engine combined with an electric drive. The new tractor pairs two electric motors with a diesel engine of as yet unspecified origin. The maker states a maximum torque of 7,200 Nm, a top speed of 40 km/h and a 10–15% gain in work efficiency over comparable machines. It runs on four 762 mm-wide tracks and has a hydraulic system with a 636 l/min flow. Data on rated power, weight and battery capacity is missing, so a full assessment is not possible.

Weichai Lovol eCVT

Weichai Lovol introduced a family of five tractors with its own eCVT, an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission in a hybrid system. The manufacturer claims work efficiency can rise by more than 30% and fuel consumption fall by more than 20%. The tractors reportedly completed 2,000 hours of bench testing and field trials covering roughly 13,300 hectares.

Lingong and YTO

Lingong showed 13 machines, including the GN5150E combine harvester with eight electric motors in its working unit and a 30 kWh battery. YTO presented an intelligent on-board assistant for tractors and the 9660 self-propelled forage harvester.

Prices, production start dates and export availability for the European market are not yet known.
