Chinese President Xi Jinping meets Belarusian leader Lukashenko in Beijing
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko met in Beijing on Monday, with Xi praising the positive development of bilateral relations and calling for closer cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.

On Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko in Beijing. According to Chinese state media, Xi stated that China-Belarus relations have withstood the test of international issues and are now in the most favorable period in history. Xi called for mobilizing resources across all sectors to promote the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and enrich the content of practical cooperation.
Lukashenko met with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week. In 2022, Lukashenko allowed Russia to use Belarusian territory for its invasion of Ukraine, but he has denied plans to directly join the war. Minsk has claimed that Russia's new intermediate-range ballistic missile "Oreshnik," capable of carrying nuclear warheads, is deployed in Belarus.
China officially positions itself as neutral in Russia's war against Ukraine but has in practice supported Moscow. This was Lukashenko's first meeting with Xi since August 2025.
