Latvia's film industry is counting on the one million euros that Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (United List) promised as compensation for the temporary postponement of a levy on streaming platforms, meaning online video services. The levy has been put off, and the sector now wants clarity on a long-term solution.

The film industry stresses that the promised million is only interim support. It wants a permanent arrangement that would ensure growth in funding and create a competitive environment at least on the scale of the Baltic states.

The programme "Kultūršoks" examines whether politicians went too far in deciding to postpone the levy.
