Kioti maker Daedong takes over Deutz-Fahr tractor distribution in South Korea

South Korean agricultural machinery maker Daedong, known worldwide mainly for its Kioti brand, has officially begun offering high-power Deutz-Fahr tractors in its domestic market. The deal was struck with Italy's SDF Group, which owns the German Deutz-Fahr brand. Daedong now holds exclusive rights to both distribute and service the machines in South Korea, extending its offering into a segment where its range had been limited.

Why the move

According to South Korean trade media, the decision responds to rapid changes in the country's farming, where demand is growing for heavier equipment, including high-horsepower tractors. South Korea has traditionally been associated with smaller, highly mechanised farms, but in recent years large farm and contracting businesses have become more important and land is being consolidated. Daedong's existing range focused mainly on small and medium tractors of up to 140 hp.

Four Warrior models

Four Deutz-Fahr models arrive in the South Korean sales network in a specially equipped Warrior specification, with power from 181 to 247 hp: the 6180 Agrotron TTV, 6210 Agrotron TTV, 6230 Agrotron TTV and 7250 Agrotron TTV. These Series 6 and 7 tractors are powered by six-cylinder Deutz TCD 6.1 engines. They feature continuously variable TTV transmissions, automated headland sequence management (SDS) and engine oil change intervals extended to 1,000 hours.

Precision farming and service

The tractors come factory-ready for the ISOBUS standard and are fitted with TIM (Tractor Implement Management) and automatic satellite steering. Daedong intends to integrate them with its own digital platforms, including variable-rate fertiliser and seed application, which are also being tested and rolled out in the Saemangeum area. This is a large hydro-engineering project where the world's longest sea dyke was built and nearly 400 km² of land was reclaimed from the ocean.

Daedong's network includes more than 130 dealers across the country, giving farmers access to servicing and local support. This eases concerns about spare parts and specialist service for advanced European equipment.
