New teaching materials for "Latvian Language and Literature, Grade 4" Part 2 released
The Latvian Language Agency has published the second part of the textbook and workbook set for Grade 4 Latvian language and literature, developed according to the national language standard.
The Latvian Language Agency has announced the release of the second part of the teaching materials set "Latvian Language and Literature. Grade 4" for educators. The set was developed in line with the Latvian language standard, which defines learning outcomes to be achieved by the end of Grade 9.
Textbook content
The second part of the textbook contains three thematic chapters: "Native Language. My Language," "Let's Fly to the Stars!" and "Green All Around." Students continue studying parts of speech and reinforce their knowledge of direct speech, forms of address, and coordinate sentence parts. They also become acquainted with the short story as a literary genre, learning to analyze plot and evaluate the actions of main characters.
Workbook
The new workbook continues from Part 1 and covers chapters 4, 5, and 6. Its exercises align with the textbook content, allowing students to practice language structure, communication, and text-writing skills. Each chapter of the workbook ends with additional exercises intended to support differentiated learning, enabling teachers to adapt tasks to students of varying abilities.
