The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has initiated an investigation into the vehicle usage practices of Sigulda municipality's leadership. The bureau is examining whether the mayor and his deputy are legally allowed to use their personal cars for official trips, have the fuel paid for from the municipal budget, and simultaneously receive compensation.

The officials maintain that their actions are lawful, as they have signed gratuitous use agreements. They argue that this arrangement is cheaper for the municipal budget than leasing official vehicles. The matter was reported on LSM's evening program "Let's Discuss in the Evening."
