Kojima Productions denies reports of studio trouble
After reports of losing Sony's support and disappointing sales, Hideo Kojima's studio stated it remains in a healthy, profitable condition. The company emphasized its relationship with PlayStation is still strong.

Kojima Productions has publicly pushed back against speculation about the studio's financial health following the announcement that Sony would no longer back the Physint project, which is instead moving to Xbox. The decision sparked widespread rumors about a falling out between the studio and Sony.
According to Bloomberg, the shift away from Sony was driven by several factors, including missed deadlines, concerns over budget and profitability, and the game's timed exclusivity arrangement.
Kojima voices concern
In an interview with IGN, Hideo Kojima said that given the broader turmoil in the games industry — where numerous studios have closed and titles have been canceled — he had grown worried about his own studio's future. He explained that he had believed Physint was a safe project, which made the situation surprising to him. Kojima added that losing even one contract could force him to cut all staff working on Physint, or potentially lead to the studio's collapse due to a lack of cashflow.
Official statement
Responding to reports of disappointing sales for Death Stranding and its sequel, along with the loss of Sony's funding, Kojima Productions stated on social media that the company remains in "a healthy, profitable state." The studio further stressed that its relationship with PlayStation "remains strong."
