The 54th Combat Support Battalion of the National Guard's 2nd Vidzeme Brigade is planning training exercises in the Koknese area and on the Daugava river during September and October. The sessions are meant to maintain the skills of M3Rig amphibious vehicle helmsmen, ramp operators and ferry commanders.

Vehicles crossing the access road

On September 18 and 19, as well as September 30 and October 1, military vehicles will repeatedly cross the access road near the Daugava in Koknese, in the Auliciems area, as part of the training. Residents and drivers passing through the area on those dates may notice amphibious vehicles moving across the road.

Public viewing opportunity

On September 23 and 24, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., a separate training session will take place at the "Gundegas" boat dock area in Koknese. There, National Armed Forces cadets will be shown how an M3Rig amphibious vehicle platoon carries out its practical tasks. Other interested members of the public will also have the chance to view the amphibious vehicles up close during these two days.

The exercises are part of routine readiness training in which soldiers reinforce their skills in operating water-crossing equipment.
