Jhon Arias proved to be the hero for Colombia, scoring the decisive goal in the 48th minute. After receiving a precise pass from the left flank, she slotted the ball home from close range, sparking celebrations among the Colombian contingent.
The win was crucial for Colombia, who had opened their campaign with a victory over South Korea and a draw against Germany. With four points, they finished second in Group H behind Germany.
For Ghana, the defeat spelled elimination from the tournament, having lost both of their previous matches. Colombia now advance to face England in the round of 16.
