Colombia Beats Ghana to Claim Last Spot in World Cup Round of 16
Colombia defeated Ghana 1-0 to secure the final place in the 2026 World Cup round of 16, where they will face Switzerland.

Colombia became the last team to qualify for the round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, defeating Ghana 1-0 in Kansas City.
The only goal came in the 14th minute when Juan Arias scored from close range after a pass from Luis Suárez, who had just come on as a substitute for the injured John Córdoba. Colombia remained dangerous throughout, with Luis Díaz missing several chances, including one disallowed for offside.
After the break, Ghana tried to take control but failed to test Colombia's goalkeeper, recording zero shots on target. This marked the second consecutive round-of-16 match where a team failed to register a shot on goal, following Austria's performance against Spain the previous day. According to statistics, such an occurrence had only happened three times in World Cup knockout matches since 1966, but now it happened twice in two days.
Colombia will face Switzerland in the next round.
