A Latvian family has shared their experience of buying an apartment with a mortgage, emphasizing that the initial compromise ultimately turned into the biggest benefit.

The couple, who had lived in Riga's city center for over ten years, decided to purchase their own home because they believed the money spent on rent could be better used as an investment for the future. Although taking out a mortgage seemed daunting at first, they concluded it would be worthwhile in the long run.

The process was not quick – they had to contact several banks, evaluate different options, and handle contracts, notaries, and other formalities. Initially, the woman thought they would find the perfect apartment without any compromises, but in the end, they had to give in on location – they moved to Pierīga (the outskirts of Riga) instead of staying in the center as she had hoped.

Despite the initial disappointment, she now admits that the compromise turned out to be a gain and a source of joy. The apartment they bought has become a true home, and the couple is satisfied with the final result.
