The acoustic concert hall "Īle" will host the concert programme "IE-ŽŪŽ-O" on 14 November 2026 at 6 p.m. It brings together the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, lullabies and improvisations by musicians Oskars and Raimonds Petrauskis. The concert is organised by the Music and Art Development Foundation "Balsis", with financial support from the State Culture Capital Foundation.

The lullaby as a first melody

The programme starts from the idea that a lullaby is one of the first melodies through which a person gets to know the world. It soothes, gives a sense of closeness and lets a person feel love. The organisers also recall a thought by director Uģis Brikmanis, that when a person is born, alongside luck and prosperity, they should first be wished the ability to love. In their view, a lullaby may be the first lesson in love.

What will be performed

In "IE-ŽŪŽ-O", the warmth of lullabies is interwoven with the depth and breadth of Bach's music. The programme will also include arrangements and improvisations for saxophone and keyboard instruments created by Raimonds Petrauskis.

In the interplay of Oskars Petrauskis on saxophone and Raimonds Petrauskis on piano, listeners will hear flowing melodies, thrilling flights of sound and echoes of music from other continents. Melody, harmony and free improvisation will let the musicians create music on the spot during the concert, inviting each listener to find their own story in it.
