The Democratic Republic of Congo secured a spot in the playoffs of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers after a 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan in Group K. Uzbekistan took the lead in the 10th minute through Eldor Shomurodov, who chipped the ball over the goalkeeper. The Congolese side trailed until the 68th minute when Yoane Wissa equalized from the penalty spot. Ten minutes later, Fiston Mayele put the DR Congo ahead with a close-range shot, and Wissa sealed the win with a low strike from outside the area in the first minute of stoppage time.
In the other Group K match, Colombia and Portugal played out a goalless draw. Colombia dominated the game with 24 shots to Portugal's 13 and seven on target to two, but could not find the net. The draw ensured Colombia finished top of the group.
