Congreve set to leave Swansea for Belgian side Westerlo

Cameron Congreve, the Wales international winger, is set to leave Swansea City and join Belgian top-flight club Westerlo. The transfer fee is reported to be in the seven-figure range, with performance-related add-ons and a sell-on clause also included in the deal.

The 22-year-old, who came through Swansea's academy, impressed during a loan spell at Scottish Premiership side Dundee last season. His performances earned him his first senior caps for Wales in June friendlies against Ghana and Romania. There had been speculation that he could challenge for a regular first-team spot at Swansea in the 2026-27 season, but the Championship club has opted to sanction his departure.

Congreve joined Swansea at under-nine level and leaves having made 19 senior appearances, including three league starts. During his loan at Dundee, he scored three goals in 36 games. Earlier, in the 2024-25 campaign, he netted six times in 47 appearances while on loan at Bromley.

The move includes a number of protections for Swansea. Should Westerlo agree to sell Congreve in the future, Swansea will have the option to match any offer from another club. This comes shortly after Swansea sold another Welsh international, Liam Cullen, to Leicester City on Friday.

The deal marks the end of Congreve's long association with the Welsh club, which began when he was a child. He now heads to Belgium to continue his career in the Pro League.
