Konovalov breaks silence over shooting of his dogs; first court hearing set for Thursday
Influencer Modris Konovalovs has broken his silence over the fatal shooting of his three dogs, announcing the first court hearing will take place on Thursday. Four people, including a hunter and a former municipal police chief, face charges in the case.
Social media influencer Modris Konovalovs, whose three dogs were shot dead last October, has ended a period of silence about the case. In an Instagram post, he said the first hearing in the criminal case is scheduled for Thursday and that he has spent recent months reviewing the case materials.
Konovalovs explained that he had just returned from a meeting in Riga and wanted to update his followers. He said he would be able to share more details only after all court hearings have concluded. Although the dogs cannot be brought back, he added that he hopes the truth and justice will prevail.
According to the court calendar, four people face charges: hunter Gatis Minkevičs, Bauska municipal police senior inspector Kristīne Leitere-Ozoliņa, municipal police inspector Andris Millers, and former Bauska municipal police chief Egīls Gailis.
The former police chief is charged with intentionally acting as a public official in a way that clearly exceeded the powers and duties granted by law and caused significant harm. The municipal police officers are accused of failing to perform their official duties through negligence, also resulting in significant harm. The hunter is charged with cruel treatment of animals that led to their deaths.
