Ivory Coast make history by reaching World Cup knockout stage
Ivory Coast reached the World Cup knockout rounds for the first time by beating Curaçao. Elsewhere, Ecuador stunned Germany, Tunisia exited, and Alexia Putellas left Barcelona for London City Lionesses.

Ivory Coast made history on Thursday by securing a 2-0 victory over Curaçao, booking their first-ever spot in the World Cup knockout stage. The Elephants finished second in their group and will face either France or Norway in the Round of 16 on June 30.
In other action, Ecuador pulled off a stunning 2-1 upset over Germany, snatching a late winner. With four points from the group stage, La Tri are guaranteed a place in the Round of 16 as one of the best third-placed teams.
Tunisia suffered a third consecutive defeat, losing 3-1 to the Netherlands, and were eliminated. The Dutch topped Group F, while Japan secured second place with a 1-1 draw against Sweden.
France face a major test on Friday against Norway, with top spot in Group I still up for grabs. Senegal, after losses to France and Norway, must beat Iraq convincingly on Friday to keep their hopes alive of advancing as a best third-placed team.
In Group H, Spain are not yet through and will seek to seal qualification against Uruguay, continuing their impressive tournament run.
A new chapter begins for Alexia Putellas. The two-time Ballon d'Or winner (2021, 2022) is set to join Women's Super League side London City Lionesses after 14 trophy-laden years at Barcelona, where she won everything.
Finally, Sébastien Ogier moved into the lead at the Acropolis Rally in Greece.
