According to data compiled by the Financial Industry Association (FNA), in the first half of 2026, Latvian financial institutions detected and prevented 10,960 fraud attempts totaling €11,028,750. However, despite these preventive measures, fraudsters successfully carried out 2,829 crimes, resulting in losses of €7,825,618 for residents.

The FNA emphasizes that fraudsters are using increasingly sophisticated methods to bypass security systems. Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution, avoid disclosing banking information, and refrain from making transfers based on instructions from unknown individuals.
