Amateur art groups in Krāslava municipality have received new authentic folk costumes, with the folk dance ensemble "Dagda" gaining the largest addition.

Amateur art groups in Krāslava municipality have received a valuable addition to their wardrobes — new authentic folk costumes and costume components that will be used in future performances.
Biggest addition goes to "Dagda"
The folk dance ensemble "Dagda" received the most significant boost, with its wardrobe now including 12 sets of Abrene wedding costumes. The dancers will put the new outfits to good use next year, when the ensemble marks its 50th anniversary. The new folk costumes will allow the group to appear especially festive during the celebrations.
Abrene wedding costumes belong to the traditional folk costume heritage of Latgale, and their acquisition reflects the municipality's efforts to preserve and develop the region's cultural identity through the work of its amateur art groups.
The acquisition of new costumes is part of a broader effort in which the wardrobes of various collectives in Krāslava municipality are being enriched with authentic costumes or costume elements, strengthening the continuation of folk art traditions in the region and enabling the groups to perform in keeping with their historical heritage.
